Why I’m Running

“We can do better. We’re leading in prison population, when we should be leading in education, healthcare, infrastructure, human rights, and quality of life.”

— Kristine Schanbacher

Who is Kristine Schanbacher?

Kristine Schanbacher is a lawyer and human rights activist in Chicago. She stands out because of her record of getting things done. She fought to reinstate wrongfully terminated food benefits in Illinois, won asylum for a transgender woman fleeing violence in Mexico, and worked to overturn a statute that would have shuttered every abortion clinic in Wisconsin. She is running for Congress because ideology is not enough — we need action.

Illinois’ 7th Congressional District encompasses all of downtown Chicago going south to West Englewood and North Kenwood, east to the lake, and west through Garfield Park, Austin, Oak Park, and extending to Hillside.
